My husband and I were buying a home from Pompello Rubio's clients and were very excited to close on our new home. When our agent requested the keys from Pompello Rubio, he aggressively refused over the phone. Pompello Rubio stated that "he wouldn't leave his clients' household items unattended with those people," which we understood to be racist code for Black people.After closing on our home, we agreed to give his clients several days to move their items out so we could start our process of moving in. The sellers even asked us if we wanted to buy some of their things, such as a sofa and entertainment center. This doesn't sound like people who are worried about us, as Black people, stealing their things. We were completely taken aback by Pompello Rubio's racist behavior and his implicit bias towards us. Although experiencing racism isn't new for us, it was still shocking.Our agent told him, "I think you don't know how this works." The title agency representative mentioned they had never heard of a selling agent refusing to give buyers keys to their home. Pompello Rubio made buying our new home a horrific yet memorable experience. Our agent apologized for his rudeness and for us having to hear him yell at her over the phone while still refusing to give us the keys.I strongly suggest buyers and sellers who are African American or of African descent reconsider having him as their agent. We truly hope your buying experience is a favorable one with a morally ethical agent.

I highly recommend Peyo. He is very knowledgeable on the Houston market. Peyo is always available and very responsive, day or night, via email, phone call, or text. He was very helpful in the process of buying 3 rental properties and also got them leased quickly. When we completed walk through on new properties, he spotted flaws that needed to be fixed that the builder and we didn't even catch.
